Plastic Surgery Salon Procedures
With the recent rise in popularity of spa treatments, many people are questioning just how safe these treatments are. The truth is most treatments are safe it is just a matter of who they are used on. If you are considering a treatment like Botox, Microderm abrasion, or a laser treatment, there are many things to think about.
Consider Your Health
If you have certain conditions like high blood pressure or you are taking medications to thin your blood, you may want to forgo some treatments. You may also want to consider how sensitive your skin is. If you generally react to most types of moisturizers or soaps, you may have a reaction to a facial. For example, while most people can go through Microderm with no issues; some people end up with a rash or burn. You should always talk to your technician about any medical conditions you may have.
Consider the Facility
If you are having an invasive treatment like a shot of Botox, you will want to choose a clean professional facility. You also need to check out the qualifications and training of any technician completing your procedure. Some procedures require the use of lidocaine or other numbing drugs. If these are not properly administered, the results could be serious, if not fatal. Some spas have physicians who are licensed operating the facility, but you need to make sure they will be onsite when your procedure is done in case things go wrong. Laser treatments can have severe side effects if they are not completed properly. You need to make sure anyone working on your skin has plenty of experience and is familiar with your procedure.
Make Sure Help Is Available Around the Clock
Emergencies don’t only occur during business hours. You need to make sure there is help if something goes wrong. Some facility will recommend that you report to the emergency room if you have a reaction or pain. However, these doctors will need to contact someone to find out exactly what procedures were completed. If you are experiencing a chemical burn it is imperative to know what chemicals were used. Since most emergencies such as these don’t happen until later in the day the salon must have someone who can answer these questions around the clock. Ask for a number to call in case of emergency before you ever leave the office.
Be Sure to Trust Your Instincts
In order to keep yourself safe, you must trust your instincts. If you are unsure about the technician or the procedure, do not undergo it until you feel safe. If the technician seems unsure or inexperienced, don’t be afraid to ask for someone else. You wouldn’t trust any guy of the street to work on your car. You want a licensed and professional mechanic. Why would you settle for less with your own body? After all, you are paying for the procedure; you can walk out at any time.
